Children

Los Angeles Child photographer

Fun & Natural

I love that through photographs we can freeze time and preserve the fleeting moments of childhood in a timeless and authentic way. Specializing in natural light photography with a classic light and airy aesthetic, I never tire of capturing the genuine expressions and boundless energy of children.

My children’s sessions center around the individuality of each child. I believe in showcasing their unique personalities and quirks, steering away from overly posed or stiff compositions. The emphasis is always on capturing children in their element – playing, exploring, and expressing themselves freely. This approach results in images that not only freeze a moment in time (they won’t carry their favorite blankie around forever…promise!), but also tell the genuine and heartwarming story of childhood.

Through my natural ability to connect with children, and as a mother myself, I create a relaxed and playful environment that allows their true personalities to shine. In essence, what I offer is more than just a photography session; it's an opportunity to preserve the magic of your child's formative years in a collection of beautiful and authentic images.

Serving Ventura County, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles.

The CHAPETTA Family

“I am eternally grateful for the gift she's given my family”

Daniele is so kind and warm, she makes you feel relaxed and comfortable right from the start. My older two kids are extremely shy and often take quite a while to warm up to new people. I was worried they wouldn't warm up until the end of the session, but Daniele had them comfortable, relaxed, and in the most adorable sibling poses within 10 minutes. Our photos from our sessions with her are some of our most treasured items. The investment in such beautiful documentation of the various stages of our lives has been so worth it.

The Jackson Family

“The photos are BEAUTIFUL and memories we will cherish forever”

We love Daniele! Every photo shoot with her is an absolute dream. She makes our entire family feel at ease and like we can be ourselves. She takes the time to truly get to know us and keeps in touch through our biggest family milestones. I honestly don’t think we’ll ever consider another family photographer. Thanks for everything, Daniele!

The SILVERS Family

“Her ability to document moments and families is amazing”

Daniele was absolutely amazing with our kids. Even our baby, who's is in the stranger danger stage, was all smiles with her. She made the photoshoot super easy and fun for us all. And of course, most importantly, the photos came out simply breathtaking. The photos are so natural and alive. We were wowed by the results and can't wait to hang our favorites all over the house.

what to expect for your Los angeles children's photography session

before the session

during the session

After the session

Approximately two weeks after your session your Los Angeles child photography session your images will be available for online viewing.  You will receive an-mail stating that your photos are ready to be viewed along with a link to access your gallery.  Your viewing gallery will be live for seven days, and your order will be placed within that time frame.
All the images from your session are available for purchase in both print and digital format.  Each image is meticulously enhanced to ensure that your prints will be stunning.

Child sessions usually last around thirty to forty-five minutes.  During children's sessions Daniele loves to take a few minutes before the photos begin to play with children and help them warm up and become comfortable in what might be a new environment.  She then works quickly, all while making the session feel like a game, to ensure that plenty of images are captured before kids are 'over it', so to speak!  There are no rules at a photo session and Daniele likes to keep it light and carefree for the kids.  We'll sing their favorite songs, play with their favorite toys, and have a fun time in general, all while creating images that document this time in your child's life.

Before your session Daniele will chat with you to learn about your vision for your session and will work with you to choose perfect location for what you're envisioning.  She'll make suggestions on what to wear for the best results (Hello, Pinterest!), and will offer advise on the best time of day for the session to take place.  Typically children are happiest early in the day, and light in the early morning is nice and soft for outdoor sessions.  Nap time will definitely be worked around!  All of this can be discussed in a pre-session phone call to decide on the specifics.

Child Session Tips & Advice

Notes About child Sessions  & FAQ's

My passion for child photography lies in the belief that childhood is a magical and fleeting time, deserving to be documented in a way that preserves the joy and wonder of those early years. Through my natural ability to connect with children, and as a mother myself, I create a relaxed and playful environment that allows their true personalities to shine. In essence, what I offer is more than just a photography session; it's an opportunity to preserve the magic of your child's formative years in a collection of beautiful and authentic images.

Children’s sessions usually last around 30-45 minutes, allowing time for various playful moments and expressions. I recommend that these sessions take place in the morning. The light is soft and beautiful, and young kids are usually happiest early in the day as well.

How long does a child photography session typically last, and what is the best time of day for capturing natural light?

Do you provide props for child photography sessions, or should we bring our own?

I believe in creating a playful and relaxed environment where children can be themselves. By allowing them to play, explore, and express their personalities naturally, I’m able to capture genuine expressions in a true to life way. We’ll play with their favorite toys, listen to their favorite songs (bring your playlist!), and probably dance a little bit, too!

What happens if my child is shy or uncooperative during the photoshoot?

It's completely normal for children to feel a bit shy or uncooperative in a new environment. I approach each session with patience and adaptability. By creating a comfortable and playful atmosphere, I often find that children quickly become at ease, allowing me to capture their natural expressions. And trust me, I’m a mom, too. Don’t worry…I’ve seen it all, handled it all, and your portraits will turn out beautifully!

What happens if the weather isn't nice on the day of our outdoor family session?

I understand that weather can be unpredictable. In the event of unfavorable conditions, we can discuss rescheduling options or can consider moving the session into my studio.

how far in advance are you booked?

Because of the custom nature of my work, I am only able to book a limited number of children's photography sessions each month. There are certain times of the year that are busier than others. Late spring and early fall are almost always booked with a waiting list, so it is never a bad idea to get a spot as quickly as possible. Depending on time of year, please be sure to schedule at least 3 to 6 weeks in advance to ensure an appointment.

Can I purchase the digital negatives?

Yes! The vast majority of my clients choose to purchase their digital negatives so that they can preserve and self-archive their images, as well as have prints made as they'd like. For more information about digital negative packages, please get in touch for a complete rate sheet.
