Santa Barbara Maternity photography

Organic & Natural

I’m passionate about documenting the beautiful  and transformative journey of becoming a mother. Each maternity session that I photograph is a unique and personalized experience, with a focus on the mother-baby bond.

My Santa Barbara maternity photography sessions encompass not only the mother-to-be but also her loved ones, creating warm and inclusive images that celebrate your growing family.  I recommend that these sessions take place between 30-34 weeks.

Whether it's a serene outdoor setting (beach maternity sessions are a personal favorite!), my natural light studio, or a client's own home, we’ll work together to choose an environment that lends to the vision that you have for your final images.

Serving Ventura County, Santa Barbara, and Malibu.

The SKOCH Family

“They are photos we will cherish for a lifetime”

I am pregnant with my first child and knew I wanted photos taken of my growing family.  I stumbled on Daniele's site and I could not be more thankful!  Her aesthetic was exactly what I was looking for. I immediately reached out and within a few hours we were booked. She was an absolute dream to work with, making us feel very comfortable the entire time. She is a brilliant photographer and I highly recommend her for any portrait session. You will not be disappointed. We got our photos back a few days ago and I immediately burst into tears. They are photos we will cherish for a lifetime.

The Thomas Family

“The pictures came back better than I could have ever imagined”

Daniele is amazing to say the least! She is quick to reply and helps you bring your vision to life. Helps with everything from picking outfits, locations and effortless posing. She stayed in contact and updated me through the entire process from upcoming picture day to editing and when my pictures were to be ready. The pictures came back better than I could have ever imagined. Besides her amazing work she is the sweetest woman and made us feel at ease through the entire process. Would 100000% recommend and still can’t get over her beautiful work!

The SELLERS Family

“it’s money well spent as those golden moments go by so quickly and in such a haze”

Daniele was great! We did maternity and newborn photos with her. She was professional but still warm and personal.
At 36 weeks pregnant, and again at 2 weeks postpartum, I really appreciated how quick and easy the photo shoots were. Daniele has her system down!
Our photos are beautiful! They were an investment, but I feel like it’s money well spent as those golden moments go by so quickly and in such a haze. I am glad we invested in recording them for us and for our daughter in the future.

during the session

After the session

Approximately two weeks after your session your Santa Barbara maternity photography session your images will be available for online viewing. You will receive an-mail stating that your photos are ready to be viewed along with a link to access your gallery.   Your viewing gallery will be live for seven days, and your order will be placed within that time frame.
All the images from your session are available for purchase in both print and digital format. Each image is meticulously enhanced to ensure that your prints will be stunning.

Maternity sessions usually last around forty-five minutes to an hour.  Hair & makeup can be arranged with a local artist if you'd like.
During the session Daniele will guide you into flattering poses, while still keeping things natural and light-hearted.  It can be awkward to be in front of the camera, but these sessions are fun and move quickly so that no one (i.e. dad-to-be) will have a chance to get bored!  While you'll of course be the star of the show, image with your partner and/or older siblings are also included.

Before your session Daniele will chat with you to learn about your vision for your session and will work with you to choose perfect location for your maternity session.  She'll make suggestions on what to wear for the best results (Hello, Pinterest!), and will offer advise on the best time of day for the session to take place.  The time of day that maternity sessions take place depends on the location you've chosen.  Golden hour (about an hour before sunset) at the beach is absolutely beautiful!  Early morning is another time when the light is nice and soft for outdoor sessions.  All of this can be discussed in a pre-session phone call to decide on the specifics.

Santa barbara MATERNITY Photography Session Tips & Advice

Notes About Maternity Sessions & FAQ's

I’m committed to creating a personalized and stress-free Santa Barbara Maternity session for my clients. My many years of experience in posing and photographing women, coupled with my ability to utilize natural light to its fullest potential, ensures that the resulting images are not just photographs, but beautiful heirlooms of your journey to becoming a mother.

The ideal time for a maternity session is typically between the 30th and 34th weeks of pregnancy. During this window, moms-to-be will have a baby bump that is beautifully round, and usually still feels comfortable and not too swollen at this point.

What is the ideal time during pregnancy to schedule a maternity session?

Can I include my partner and/or older siblings in the maternity session?

Absolutely! I encourage family members to be a part of the session! It adds a personal touch and captures the essence of the growing family. Just let me know in advance so we can plan the session accordingly.

Do you have specific locations that you recommend for maternity sessions?

Yes, beach and studio sessions are my personal favorites for maternity sessions. I like to keep the background simple with the focus of the images on the mother/baby bond. If you have a different location in mind we’ll hop on a call to chat and decide on a location that resonates with your vision.

What should I wear for a maternity session?

I recommend wearing clothing that makes you feel comfortable and confident, emphasizing your baby bump. Flowing dresses, form-fitting outfits, or even simple and elegant lace robes can work beautifully. We’ll work together before your session to choose outfits that will result in gorgeous images.

How long does a maternity session last, and when can we expect to see the final images?

A typical maternity session lasts around 45 minutes, allowing ample time for a variety of poses, as well as plenty of beautiful, candid moments. About two weeks after your session your gallery will be ready for viewing.

What happens if the weather isn't nice on the day of our outdoor maternity session?

I understand that weather can be unpredictable. In the event of unfavorable conditions, we can discuss rescheduling options or can consider moving the session into my studio.

how far in advance are you booked?

Because of the custom nature of my work, I am only able to book a limited number of Santa Barbara maternity sessions each month.  It's recommended that you reserve your session as early as possible during your pregnancy to ensure availability.

Can I purchase the digital negatives?

Yes! The vast majority of my clients choose to purchase their digital negatives so that they can preserve and self-archive their images, as well as have prints made as they'd like. For more information about digital negative packages, please get in touch for a complete rate sheet.
