I absolutely love photographing families, and my approach is rooted in capturing the genuine moments and connections that define your family's unique story. Specializing in natural light photography with a timeless light & airy aesthetic, I strive to create classic and heartfelt images that showcase the beauty of your family's bonds. I have a deep appreciation for outdoor settings, and there's no place I find more inspiring than our picturesque local beaches (although I do love a good golden field as well!). We’re lucky to live in an area that has beautiful landscapes that create serene backdrops for your family's portraits.
Family sessions are all about capturing the essence of your family unit, and your children’s individual personalities and are always fun and playful. From the kid's sweet and joyous giggles, to tender moments between parents, and the playful interactions that make your family unique, my images encapsulate the warmth and love that defines your connections.
My photographic style is a deliberate blend of natural light, timeless aesthetics, honest emotions, and a genuine passion for storytelling. When it comes to scheduling, I understand the importance of finding the right time for your family. Whether it's a sunset session for that golden hour glow or a morning session for a fresh and vibrant feel, I work closely with my clients to choose an optimal time that will allow for beautiful light and happy children (i.e., we don’t want to miss nap time!)!

what to expect for your Santa Barbara Family photography session

After the session
Approximately two weeks after your session your Santa Barbara family photography session your images will be available for online viewing. You will receive an-mail stating that your photos are ready to be viewed along with a link to access your gallery.
Your viewing gallery will be live for seven days, and your order will be placed within that time frame.
All the images from your session are available for purchase in both print and digital format. Each image is meticulously enhanced to ensure that your prints will be stunning.
Family sessions usually last around forty-five minutes to an hour. Come with a happy attitude and be ready to play with your little ones! Seriously...even if everything went wrong the morning of your session. You know those days-your baby had a major diaper blow out, your toddler can't find her shoes. As parents we've all been there. Just relax, leave it behind you, and look forward to spending some quality time with your family. There are no rules at a photo session and Daniele likes to keep it fun and carefree for the kids. Embrace that and play along…you’ll love the results!
Before your session Daniele will chat with you to learn about your vision for your session and will work with you to choose perfect location for your family session. She'll make suggestions on what to wear for the best results (Hello, Pinterest!), and will offer advise on the best time of day for the session to take place. The time of day that family sessions take place depends on the location you've chosen. Golden hour (about an hour before sunset) at the beach is absolutely beautiful! Early morning is another time when the light is nice and soft for outdoor sessions. All of this can be discussed in a pre-session phone call to decide on the specifics.

Standard session Fee
• an initial consultation either by phone or email to discuss possible locations, clothing choices, and to answer any questions that you may have
• Daniele’s time and talent on the date of the session
• a custom-styled on-location shoot at your home or the alternate location of your choice (the studio is recommended for newborn sessions)
• touch-ups and attention to each image
• 40-50 portraits presented in a private online gallery from which you may purchase your images, either a la carte or in a collection
The session fee does not include images, either in digital or print format. All prints and collections are sold separately.

I recommend choosing outfits that coordinate, but aren’t too ‘matchy-matchy’. Soft, neutral tones work beautifully with my light and airy aesthetic. Avoid overly busy patterns, as they can distract from the overall look. I'm happy to provide styling suggestions and guidance to ensure a cohesive and visually pleasing ensemble.
What should our family wear for the session, and do you have any styling recommendations?
Can we bring props or include specific activities during the family session?
Absolutely! Incorporating meaningful items or planning specific activities that hold sentimental value can add a personal touch to your images. Whether it's a favorite blanket, a playful activity, or a cherished item, these elements can enhance the storytelling aspect of the session. Let's discuss your ideas, and we can plan accordingly to make the session uniquely yours.
How long does a typical family session last, and when can we expect to see the final images?
A typical family session lasts around 45 minutes, allowing ample time for a variety of poses, as well as plenty of playful, candid moments. About two weeks after your session your gallery will be ready for viewing.
What happens if the weather isn't nice on the day of our outdoor family session?
I understand that weather can be unpredictable. In the event of unfavorable conditions, we can discuss rescheduling options or can consider moving the session into my studio.
how far in advance are you booked?
Because of the custom nature of my work, I am only able to book a limited number of Santa Barbara family photography sessions each month. There are certain times of the year that are busier than others. Late spring and early fall are almost always booked with a waiting list, so it is never a bad idea to get a spot as quickly as possible. Depending on time of year, please be sure to schedule at least 3 to 6 weeks in advance to ensure an appointment.
Can I purchase the digital negatives?
Yes! The vast majority of my clients choose to purchase their digital negatives so that they can preserve and self-archive their images, as well as have prints made as they'd like. For more information about digital negative packages, please get in touch for a complete rate sheet.
